Five Royals make all-ISC South Division in softball
The Colo-NESCO softball team had five players receive all-Iowa Star Conference South Division honors in 2022.
Junior pitcher and infielder Callie Kohlwes and junior catcher Abigail Hostetler were both named to the South Division first team. They were joined on the first team by Collins-Maxwell's Alexis Houge, Erica Houge, Kenzi Wierson, Marissa Boege and Avery Fricke, Baxter's Mandee Selover and Lilie Vansice and GMG's Maecyn Lewis and Adelyn Sienknecht.
Kohlwes went 7-11 with a 5.07 ERA and hit .320 with four doubles and 17 RBIs during the season. Hostetler threw out eight base runners and only made four errors in 161 chances defensively and she hit .218 with four doubles and 15 RBIs on offense.
Seniors Izabelle Voelker and Jenna Hill wound up on the South Division second team. The other second-team picks were Collins-Maxwell's Cypress Erickson, Baxter's Kinley Bethards, Ally Padget and Lydia Pierce, North Tama's Kinsley Even and Larissa Morrison and GMG's Kennedy Sederburg.
Voelker recorded a .254 average with 14 RBIs and she made 56 assists and 28 putouts in the infield. Hill scored 16 runs and drove in 11 and she only made two errors in 33 chances in the outfield.
Colo-NESCO freshman Molly Angell was named all-ISC South Division honorable mention. Angell hit .355 with three triples and she scored 16 runs.
Collins-Maxwell senior Alexis Houge was named the South Division Player of the Year after hitting .667 with 52 runs, 50 steals and 19 RBIs. Spartan head coach Troy Houge was named Coach of the Year after leading Collins-Maxwell to its fifth unbeaten conference title in a row.
