Four Royals make all-ISC in baseball: Spencer Hansen lands on South Division first team

Colo-NESCO junior Spencer Hansen was named to the all-Iowa Star Conference South Division first team in baseball for the second year in a row.

The Colo-NESCO baseball team had four players named all-Iowa Star Conference South Division during the 2022 season.

Junior Spencer Hansen, seniors Andrew Grover and Kenny Cutler and sophomore Drew Banks were the four Royals honored.

Hansen landed on the South Division first team. He was joined by Collins-Maxwell's Caleb Dvorak, Blake Huntrods, Josef Dvorak, Caden Hasbrouck and Weston Kahler; North Tama's Devin McKinley, Gabe Kopriva, Kolt Knaack and Michael Schreier and Baxter's Cody Damman.

Hansen hit .357 with five doubles, five runs and four RBIs in conference play. He was also 3-4 with a 4.62 ERA, 40 strikeouts and 27 walks in 30 1/3 innings.

Grover and Banks ended up on the second team. The other second-team choices in the South Division were Collins-Maxwell's Luke Huntrods and Jace Huntrods, North Tama's Logan Rausch, GMG's Colin Teske and Baxter's Nate McMinamen, Cael Shepley and Rory Heer.

Grover posted a .351 average with six doubles, two homers, 10 runs and 13 RBIs in conference games. He only had one error in 19 chances in the field.

Banks posted a 4-1 record with a 2.41 ERA, 36 strikeouts and 28 walks in 32 innings of work in conference games. He also hit .244 with seven runs and six RBIs.

Cutler was named honorable mention. He hit .250 with one double, 10 runs and steals apiece and seven RBIs. He only had one error in 17 chances defensively.

Kopriva was named the ISC South Division Player of the Year. North Tama head coach Dan Kopriva was named Coach of the Year after leading the Redhawks to the conference title with a 10-3 conference record.
