Nevada's Caeden DaSilva sets meet record at Winterset: Breaks 200-meter dash mark

Nevada's Caeden DaSilva got his senior season off to a great start by setting a meet record at the Winterset Invitational boys track meet Friday at Winterset.

DaSilva set the new meet record in the 200-yard dash with a time of 22.71 seconds. DaSilva beat the 23.06 run by Adel-Desoto-Minburn's Brevin Doll for first in the event.

DaSilva also won the 100 and 400. 

In the 100 DaSilva clocked in at 11.31 to top the 11.44 run by Underwood's Ryan Chase. DaSilva completed the 400 in 51.68 to edge the 51.84 by North Polk's Jacob Blattel for first.

DaSilva also helped Nevada place fourth in the 4x200 relay. He teamed with Karter Beving, Carter Holland and Caleb Kooiker to run a 3:37.01.

Beving took eighth in the 200 after crossing the finish line in 24.32. Holland Nick Frideres took sixth and seventh in the 800 for Nevada with respective times of 2:08.75 and 2:10.63 and Frideres was also eighth in the 3,200 after completing the race in 11:08.91.

Rowan Steele jumped 5 feet, 6 inches in the high jump to tie for eighth. Nevada also took eighth in the 4x800 and 4x200 relays with respective times of 9:19.45 and 1:40.28.

As a team Nevada placed ninth out of 13 schools with 45 points. ADM won the team title with 122 points and North Polk was a close second with 119.5.
