Three Colo-NESCO boys make all-ISC South in basketball: Royals' Lucas Frohwein named to first team

Three Colo-NESCO boys basketball players were given all-Iowa Star Conference South honors after leading the Royals to an 8-4 record and tie for second place in the conference behind unbeaten Baxter in 2021-2022.

Sophomore forward Lucas Frohwein, senior center Andrew Tschantz and senior point guard Kenny Cutler were the three Royals recognized by the conference coaches.

Frohwein landed on the all-ISC South first team. The other first-team selections were Baxter juniors Carson Scroggins and Cody Damman, North Tama senior Gabe Kopriva and Thomas Hulme and GMG senior Mykel Ratliff.

Frohwein averaged 16.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals in conference games. He shot 44.1 % from the field and 70.9 % from the line.

Andrew Tschantz

Tschantz was named to the second team. He was joined by Baxter's Treyton Travis and Nate McMinamen, Collins-Maxwell's Weston Kahler, GMG's Jabari Woodbury and Meskwaki's Larnell Bear. 

Tschantz averaged 10.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals against the ISC South. He shot 52.3 % from the field.

Kenny Cutler

Cutler was named all-ISC South honorable mention. He averaged 5.5 points, 7.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals.

Scroggins was tabbed the ISC South Player of the Year after averaging 15.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks in conference play. 

Baxter's Zach Hasselbrink was named ISC South Coach of the Year. Hasselbrink led the Bolts to the conference championship with a perfect 12-0 record.
