BONDURANT – The Nevada boys’ basketball team played its last game of the 2020-2021 season Monday with a 72-63 loss at Bondurant-Farrar in the Class 3A substate quarterfinals.

But even though the Cubs came up short, they have nothing to hang their heads over after having lost by 36 points to the Bluejays back on Jan. 11.

Nevada came back from a 14-point deficit to take a 54-52 lead in the fourth quarter. But the Cubs then misses three-straight shots and Bondurant-Farrar went on a 7-0 run and never looked back.

“I'm proud of our guys' fight and how hard they played,” Nevada head coach Tyler Struck said. “We executed a lot of new things and their hard work both physically and mentally down the stretch this season really showed up last night.  We just had too big of a hole to get out of and Bondurant played just as hard and made the big plays when they needed to.”

In the end Nevada couldn’t overcome Bondurant-Farrar's big edge at the line. The Bluejays made 21 of 26 free throws and the Cubs were just 6 of 11 from the line.

Nevada shot 45 % from the field and made 9 of 21 3-pointers. The Cubs held Bondurant-Farrar to 41 % shooting.

“It was a really good game,” Struck said. “So proud of how our kids battled and fought back.

Nevada finished the season with a winning record of 11-10.

Colin Memmer hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points and pulled down four rebounds for Nevada in the loss. Ty Dittmer had 14 points, five rebounds and three assists.
