Royals come up short in regional opener

GARWIN - The Colo-Nesco volleyball team never fully recuperated from a slow start in a Class 1A regional first-round loss to GMG Oct. 18 in Garwin.

The Royals were swept in three sets to finish the season at 5-16.

Colo-Nesco was overpowered by a 25-9 score in the opening set. The Royals came back with a strong effort in the second set, but they fell by a 25-19 margin.

The third set saw Colo-Nesco fall by a 25-13 score to end the match. The Royals only had nine kills against 16 errors in 43 attacks.

Colo-Nesco also struggled serving, going just 26 of 41. The Royals did have four aces and they put up six blocks on defense.

Chelsea Henze had four kills, two assists and one dig for Colo-Nesco in the loss. Delaney McGill finished with three kills and one block and Emma Sarver had four digs.

Halley Buseman tacked on two assists, two aces, one kill and one dig and Lauren Riese added three blocks and one kill. Kassie Robinson and Hallie Riese each chipped in two digs, one block and one ace and Riley Reischauer finished with two assists and one dig.
