Cub relay teams do well at Drake

The Nevada girls’ and boys’ track teams both had a 4 X 100-meter relay team compete at the Drake Relays last week in Des Moines.

The Nevada girls’ team of Jordan McKinney, Abby Stephenson, Alli Fey and Lindsey Haley won their preliminary heat with their best time of the year at 51.24 seconds. They placed 30th out of 80 teams in the preliminaries.

“I was really proud of their hard work and dedication preparing for the Drake Relays,” Nevada head girls’ track coach Ted Johnson said. “We now look forward to conference and (the state qualifying meet) to improve our time even further.”

On the boys’ side Brendan Sellberg, Lane Hillock, Erik Fevold and Peyton Sharp also ran their best time of the season for Nevada. The Cub quartet clocked in at :44.24 to place 36th out of 80 teams in the prelims after qualifying 69th.
