Royal boys cruise to 3-0 start

RICEVILLE - The Colo-Nesco boys’ basketball team rolled to 3-0 with an 80-27 drubbing of Riceville in its first road game of the season Saturday in Riceville.

Colo-Nesco completely overwhelmed Riceville in each of the first three quarters. The Royals led 51-15 at the half and 71-20 after three quarters, scoring its third lopsided victory in as many tries.

The Royals shot 54 percent from the field, made 7 of 20 3-pointers and had 25 assists on 33 field goals. They posted a 40-19 rebounding advantage, tallied 25 steals and held the Wildcats to 28-percent shooting from the field.

Brady Stoeffler hit 4 of 7 3-pointers and finished with 20 points, seven assists and four steals to lead Colo-Nesco.

Four other Royals scored in double figures.

Christian Reischauer had 13 points, six assists and three steals and Grant Tiarks tallied 13 points and five rebounds. Matthew Hill and Garret Tiarks both came up big off the bench as Hill contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, five blocks and three assists and Garret put up 10 points, nine rebounds and eight steals.

Tanner Clatt chipped in seven points and Christian Montgomery added six points, four assists and three steals.

Grant Shedenhelm had seven points and four rebounds and Spencer Kuhn tacked on four points and five boards for Riceville.

COLO - An awesome shooting display helped Colo-Nesco clobber Don Bosco by a 90-34 score Friday in Colo.

The Royals shot 64 percent from the field on the night. They also made an impressive 9 of 19 3-pointers and went 7 of 11 from the foul line.

Colo-Nesco also made life tough for Don Bosco on defense. The Royals had 19 steals and five blocks as a team.

The strong shooting and aggressive defense enabled Colo-Nesco to build a 54-14 lead at the half. They went up by 49 after three quarters, then slammed the door on the Dons with a 20-point fourth quarter.

Brady Stoeffler had 20 points on 9 of 11 shooting from the field and he also handed out eight assists and came away with four steals for the Royals. Tanner Clatt hit four 3-pointers and tallied 18 points and three assists, Matthew Hill put up 14 points, four steals and two blocks and Garret Tiarks delivered 13 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Christian Reischauer tacked on nine points, six assists and three steals; Grant Tiarks had eight points, six rebounds and two blocks, Christian Montgomery scored four points and Philip Bower netted three for Colo-Nesco.

COLO - Colo-Nesco opened the season by crushing Iowa Star Conference rival GMG by an 84-36 score Dec. 1 at Colo.

The game was competitive early as Colo-Nesco held a 22-15 advantage after one quarter. But then the Royals outscored the Wolverines by 34 points over the next two quarters to break the game open.

Colo-Nesco shot 57 percent from the field and made six 3-pointers. The Royals were strong on the glass, totaling 16 offensive rebounds and 42 total rebounds and they had 19 steals and 24 assists on 35 field goals.

Christian Reischauer delivered 20 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block for Colo-Nesco in the win. Garret Tiarks had 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals and Brady Stoeffler finished with 11 points, eight assists, six rebounds and two steals.

Tanner Clatt and Grant Tiarks scored nine points apiece, Matthew Hill had eight points and two blocks, Christian Montgomery put up five points, Steven Cutler netted four points and Philip Bower chipped in three for Colo-Nesco.
