TAMA - A big start to the second half lifted the Colo-Nesco girls’ basketball team past Iowa Star Conference rival Meskwaki by a 64-40 score in its season opener Nov. 24 at Tama.

The Royals outscored the Warriors 22-8 in the third quarter to turn what was a competitive game into a 22-point lead. They added 15 more points in the fourth quarter to increase their lead down the stretch and secure the lopsided victory.

Colo-Nesco made 26 field goals and held Meskwaki to 11. That easily offset Meskwaki’s solid 16 of 24 shooting effort from the foul line.

Faith Vincent led Colo-Nesco with 14 points, six rebounds and five steals. Vincent made two of the Royals’ three 3-pointers.

Kassie Robinson added 12 points and four rebounds and Grace Stalzer had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.
