Royals lose ISC opener to CAL

LATIMER - The Colo-Nesco volleyball team dropped its Iowa Star Conference opener to CAL Sept. 3 at Latimer.

The Royals suffered losses by scores of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-14, falling to 2-6 overall on the season. They had only 12 kills against 14 errors in the match and went 40 of 47 serving with three aces.

Jillian Gibbons and Hannah Reischauer had four kills apiece for Colo-Nesco. Gibbons also had two digs and one block and Reischauer added four blocks and one ace.

Kassie Robinson picked up 16 digs and two kills; Mackenna Ruffcorn had five digs, one kill, one ace and one assist and Chelsea Henze came through with 13 assists, three digs and one kill for the Royals. Terri Perisho led Colo-Nesco in digs with 18 and she also had one ace.

COLO - Colo-Nesco never got in a groove against Van Meter during its home opener Sept. 1 in Colo as they were swept in three sets.

The Royals were completely overmatched in the first two sets, losing 25-10 and 25-7. They came back with a stronger effort in the third set, but still fell short by a 25-18 score.

Colo-Nesco only had four kills with seven errors in 18 attacks. The Royals finished 29 of 35 serving with five aces and totaled six blocks as a team.

Hannah Reischauer had three kills and two blocks and Mackenna Ruffcorn finished with one kill, two aces and two digs versus Van Meter. Chelsea Henze had four assists, three digs, two aces and one block; Emma Sarver picked up seven digs and Jazmine Voelker tacked on five digs for Colo-Nesco.
