UWSC helps support The Arc

To the editor,

The Arc of Story County provides advocacy and services on behalf of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities within the community. Our services, funding options and resources are always changing, just as our economic status and environments change around us. The one constant we can depend on is United Way of Story County (UWSC).

United Way supports The Arc in many ways as we strive to enrich the lives of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they learn, work, play and grow within the community. UWSC provides funding for our self-advocates to have their voice heard; respite funding for families who need time away from their loved one; volunteers who assist with our Special Olympics and Active LifeStyles programs and special grant funding when The Arc is in need of additional dollars for a specific purpose.

We can count on UWSC to partner with The Arc as a leader in helping us achieve our mission. There will be challenges before us in the future. Knowing we have United Way as a constant support provides us the strength and stability to achieve great things for the individuals we serve.
