Families gathered at the Nevada Public Library Saturday morning to take part in National Volunteer Day by packaging food for Cubbie’s Cupboard at the Nevada Schools. The event was coordinated by the Story County Volunteer Center. Ashley Maurer of the Volunteer Center was pleased with the turnout in Nevada. “This is the first time we’ve hosted in Nevada, and it’s such a huge success,” she said. Materials for the food packages were purchased by the Volunteer Center through grant funds from GenerationOn and Disney, and through the organization’s asset funding. Volunteers also provided a few things Saturday.
