Colo-Nesco High School Play

The Colo-Nesco Drama Department will present “Harvey” by Mary Chase this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11 and 12, at 7 p.m. in the Colo-Nesco cafeteria. Admission is $5 per person.

Local Quilts of Valor presentation

The Nevada American Legion will present Quilts of Valor to veterans from the Nevada area this week. Some were presented at a ceremony Wednesday and more will be presented at The Talent Factory, starting at 6 p.m. Friday evening. The community is invited to attend the special event.

It’s Quidditch Time!

Nevada will host the U.S. Quidditch Midwest Regional Championship 2016 at the SCORE Park soccer fields this weekend, Nov. 12 and 13. The event will bring in qualifying college teams from all over the Midwest region, which includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. The public is invited to come and watch this unique sporting event.

Shop the Holiday Bazaar

The Nevada Community Historical Society will hold a “Holiday Bazaar” on Nov. 12. The bazaar will be open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Historical Center, 624 J Ave. Lots of fun holiday season items will be available for purchase and all proceeds will help fund upkeep on the Nevada historical properties that are maintained by the Historical Society.

Speaker at Zearing Library

The Zearing Heritage Group has received funding from Humanities Iowa, a private, nonprofit state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, to host a presentation called “Remembering Iowa’s Buffalo Bill, Never Missed and He Never Will.” The presentation, by Dr. Roy Behrens, will begin at 2:30 p.m., Nov. 13, in the library’s Heritage Room, 101 E. Main, Zearing. A cutrural resource for Iowans since 1971, Humanities Iowa offers many cultural and historical programs and grants to Iowa’s communities.
