As Hallee Schadt was preparing to start fourth grade at Central Elementary this year, she was also busy fundraising for the school food pantry, Cubbie’s Cupboard. This is the second year in a row that Hallee has hosted a lemonade stand. Before setting it up this year, she asked her mom how she could donate the money she made. She and her mom, Heather Schadt, sat down and talked about the needs in the community.

Hallee decided that she would like to raise money for Cubbie’s Cupboard, so that the students and families in the school district would have the food they need to be healthy.

Hallee took ownership of this project and set her stand up in front of George’s Pizza, which is owned and operated by her parents. She sold cups of lemonade for 50 cents and raised a total of $92.90. Many customers bought lemonade, as well as other people who just stopped on their way by.

Volunteering and being involved in activities is something that ten-year-old Hallee really enjoys. Her mom said, “Hallee thinks about others and helps out wherever she can.” She enjoys participating in the K-Kids, Central Elementary’s Cub Pride committee, soccer, basketball and has been a good helper in the classroom and at home.

Christy Linginfelter, a volunteer with Cubbie’s Cupboard stated, “Hallee is an amazing young lady with the gift to see outside of her walls. Many people have been and will blessed by her act of kindness.

Cubbie’s Cupboard is located at the Nevada Middle School in room 28. It is open to the students and families of the Nevada district from 4-5:30 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of each month. If you need another appointment time, please call 382-2751.
