The Ames Community Arts Council has released the dates and locations for their summer Gathering of Artists. These free monthly events, hosted on the third Tuesday of each month from 6–8 p.m., take place at a various artist’s workspaces. Local artists, art enthusiasts and members of the Ames community who take an interest in the arts are invited to join the event and share their projects, socialize, network and discuss the arts scene in Ames.

The next Gathering of Artists will be Tuesday, May 17 in Letitia Kenemer’s Studio, 226 Northbrook Circle, Ames. Kenemer is a longtime Ames Community Arts Council member and artist who specializes in assembled art, using miscellaneous items to make a single cohesive piece of art.

June’s Gathering of Artists will take place at Alison Kanealy’s bakery, Ali Cakes, at 300 Main St., Ames, and July’s Gathering of Artists will be held at Molly Nagel’s Upper Story Studio at 518 Broad St., Story City. There is no Gathering of Artists in August.

Director of the Ames Community Arts Council, Jennifer Brockpahler says, “The Gathering of Artists are unique events that help provide a creative and social outlet for artists of all disciplines while giving the public an opportunity to visit a working studio. No two events are the same, and their success is fueled by the creativity of everyone who attends.”

The monthly Gathering of Artists is hosted by the Ames Community Arts Council and made possible with the support of the City of Ames Commission on the Arts.
