The Story County Recorder’s Office would like to announce that 2016 hunting and fishing licenses are now available for purchase. The Story County Recorder’s office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The office will be closed all day Dec. 24 and 25, and will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31.

If you were one of the over 22,700 individuals who purchased the Angler’s Special (3-year Fishing License) or the Hunter’s Special (3-year Hunting License and Habitat Fee) in 2013, your license will expire Jan. 10, 2016.

Hunting and fishing licenses also make great gifts for the outdoorsman or outdoorswoman in your life. If your gift recipient has previously had a hunting or fishing license, you only need to provide the individual’s name. If the recipient has never had one, you will need to provide us with his or her Iowa driver’s license number and birth date. If the individual doesn’t have a driver’s license, you will need to provide us with his or her social security number, birth date and all other information found on a driver’s license. This information is required in order to create an account with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
