This past week I attended the funeral of former librarian, Wanda Carlson. Wanda started working at the Colo Public Library in 1981 and I joined her in 1986. I can’t begin to tell you all the things that Wanda taught me over the years. She taught me about the library world and encouraged me to become a librarian. I have always enjoyed reading, but my enjoyment of books became a love of books and a love of reading. Everyone needs a mentor and I was blessed to have Wanda as mine.

Gingerbread Contest: The Colo Library is having a Gingerbread House Contest. If you are interested in participating, contact the library. Gingerbread houses must be dropped off at the library by Dec. 4. There are four different categories this year - ages 5 to 7, 8 to 10, 11 and older, and families. The library is also having a gingerbread house coloring contest for three age groups - 6 and under, 7 to 10, and 11 and older. If you are interested, pick up a gingerbread coloring page at the library. Return coloring page to the library by Dec. 4. Winners for both contests will be announced Dec. 6 during Christmas in Colo.
