This Saturday, the FIRST Tech Challenge teams (FTC) for Story County 4-H (the Robot Corps) and Nevada Middle/High School will be hosting a robotics competition that eight-10 FTC teams from the central Iowa area will participate in.

The FTC program, dubbed “Sports for the Mind,” involves having teams tasked with creating a robot prior to their competitions. That robot will complete various tasks on the 12’ x 12’ playing field. Completion of these tasks will result in the teams earning points. This year’s competition theme is FIRST Res-Q and has some very creative challenges for teams to solve.

The competition will be held this Saturday, Nov. 21, at the middle school gym in Nevada, starting at 10:30 a.m. and running until around 3 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend at no charge — especially if you are interested in robots, creativity and fun. We promise that if you attend, you will learn something you didn’t already know.
