What comes to mind when you hear the phrase, “home-sewn garment?” Dated, drab and droopy apparel? Not when it’s a Sewing Workshop pattern. This line of patterns features chic and stylish garments adaptable to a wide variety of ages, silhouettes and lifestyles (Sewingworkshop.com). “I am always watching the trends and then interpreting them for real people,” said founder Linda Lee.

Now you can see an exciting trunk show of fashionable garments made from Sewing Workshop patterns and their line of fine fabrics at the next meeting of the Central Iowa Chapter of the American Sewing Guild. This event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Maxwell Area Community Center, 84 Main St. in Maxwell.

Briana Vilayoune, pattern developer and social media expert at the Sewing Workshop, will be presenting. Briana grew up in Iowa, where she started sewing at age 9 and never stopped. She lived in New York City and Italy while studying International Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Refreshments will be served, and Sewing Workshop patterns and fabrics will be available for purchase. Cost of the meeting is $2 at the door.
