The sixth annual Nevada FFA Community Winter Dinner was held Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Nevada High School Commons.

Two hundred twenty-nine meals were served at the high school. In addition, 31 dinners were delivered to elderly citizens in the community. The dinner is part of the chapter’s community service activities. No free-will donations were solicited at the dinner or concert.

This year, the free concert featured C.W. Hobbs, The Flatland String Band.

“We had a good year, so the chapter felt strongly about providing a dinner and concert for the community,” said Megan Pringnitz, Nevada FFA Chapter president. Lori Stephenson delivered meals, assisted by her daughter Abby and friends Gillian Tupper and Kaylee Kruschwitz. Kate Huse and Chris Lloyd helped with supervising the serving line, prepared vegetables and brought table decorations.

The meal consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing and dinner rolls. Larry and Angela Rasmusson of Mid West Pack catered the main course. FFA members prepared cakes, bars, cookies and gourmet breads for dessert items. While dining, holiday music played over the school’s new PA system.

Randy See, high school custodian, volunteered at the dinner and the concert by setting up tables and taking out trash. Cody Beals operated the lights and sound system in the auditorium. Steve Gray, superintendent of schools, was in attendance and volunteered by getting roasters plugged in, and also greeted several of the community patrons. Justin Gross, high school principal, was in attendance with his family. Marty Chitty, school board president, was in attendance with his family. “I continue to be impressed with all the good things that the Nevada FFA chapter accomplishes,” Chitty said.

Cooper commented that several residents have insisted on making significant monetary contributions to this endeavor, including Richard and Fran Henry, Richard and Joann Couser, Ray Lounsberry and Richard and Cindy Settle.
