Seniors On Sixth

Dee Monson

We will be getting back into our regularly scheduled activities at the Center now that the holidays are over. Bingo is this week, on the 7th at 1:30. On Monday, the 11th, we will get together for our 11:30 potluck. Our guest speaker this month will be Dan Kaercher, the retired founding editor of Midwest Living Magazine and host of “Iowa’s Simple Pleasures,” which aired on Iowa Public Television. Kaercher will share some of his favorite destinations and insights gleaned during decades spent roaming the 12-state Midwest Region as a travel writer, author and PBS personality. I am hoping for good weather on Monday so lots of people can attend to enjoy this special speaker.

On Thursday, the 14th at 1:30, we will get back to our regular movie day schedule. I think we will watch “Hatchi,” which is a movie about the strong, loving bond between a dog and its owner. The movie, starring Kevin Costner, is not a movie made for children, but an adult depiction of the faithfulness of a dog to its owner. I hope you will plan to join us for inspirational movie. (My computer tells me that the movie “The Intern” comes out on DVD on Jan. 19, so I will definitely be showing that on Feb. 11 — I loved it when we saw it last fall).
