Colo World Outlook

There were 11 members and one guest present at the December Colo World Outlook Meeting, which was hosted at the home of Myrna Johnson on Dec. 15. Joyce French opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the club collect. Joyce then read some entertaining responses from children on the topic of angels, which was followed by the reading of the treasurer’s report.

Old Business: We discussed the WO tree, which was submitted in the Colo Library Christmas Tree contest and the theme we chose was “Back to Nature.”

New Business: We discussed our annual bake sale, which is planned for March 25, at 11 a.m. at the Colo Community Center. Jane Coughenour gave the reports for United Charities and scholarships. Dorothy Cerka read an article on improving your cholesterol IQ for our monthly Health and Safety topic. Joyce then adjourned the meeting and we enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner, followed by some delectable deserts. After dinner we exchanged gifts. This was followed by a very interesting presentation by our guest, Kim Heidemann, who is the executive director of Iowa Sister States. She talked to us about her visit to Yamanashi, Japan, as a representative for ISS and entertained our various questions about her trip. The next meeting will be held at the home of Dorothy Cerka on Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.
