Seniors On Sixth

The Senior Center was full today with 70 people gathering for our December potluck. It was great to have several new people join us this month. We felt very privileged to have professionals like Jack O’Leary and Karen Ralston entertain us with Christmas music. Jack played and sang many of our favorite Christmas songs and Karen favored us with a special number from the recent Methodist church cantata. We wish to thank both of them for helping us get into the Christmas spirit.

Our next group gathering will be on New Year’s Eve where we plan to ring in the New Year by about 10:00!! We will gather at 6:00 to share some snack foods; try to answer a few Nevada trivia questions; watch a Jack Benny sketch about one of his most memorable New Year’s Eve parties and enjoy playing some games with friends. I hope many of you will plan to attend and bring a friend who is also looking for an early bird party. As in other years we will be happy to pick up those who do not wish to drive themselves to the party. Call me 382-2891. We will open the Center again on New Year’s Day to watch Iowa play in the Rose Bowl game at 5 p.m. (Watch for further details.)

The Center will be closed for Senior activities on Dec. 24 and 25, but I’m happy to know that families have rented the building for their Christmas gatherings. The Senior Center can be rented throughout the year, on nights and weekends, by calling city hall for availability and rates.
