COLO - The Colo-NESCO boys’ basketball team started poorly and struggled late in a 65-45 home loss to Tripoli Jan. 7.


The Royals were outscored 19-2 in the first quarter. They pulled within 31-18 at the half and then cut the deficit to 39-30 after three quarters.


But Colo-NESCO ran out of gas in the fourth quarter. The Royals were outscored by 11 points over the final eight minutes in falling to 1-7 on the season.


Colo-NESCO made 12 of 18 free throws and five 3-pointers. But the Royals only shot 37 percent overall from the field and finished with just four offensive rebounds.


Francis Bower had 16 points and seven rebounds and Brighton Clatt 14 points and four boards for Colo-NESCO in a losing effort. Jack McKinney added nine points and two assists, Kenny Cutler three points, Trevor Burg two points, Ephram Muntz and Ryan Wonders five rebounds apiece and Luke Hill one point and assist apiece.
