CLARKSVILLE - The Colo-NESCO volleyball team went 2-1 in the Silver Bracket at the Iowa Star Conference tournament Saturday.

The Royals defeated Meskwaki and Clarksville and fell to Riceville during the tournament to end the regular season with a 6-15 record. Dunkerton won the Silver Bracket title and Janesville, the No. 1 team in Class 1A, was the Gold Bracket champion.

Colo-NESCO fell to Riceville in three sets during the quarterfinals. Colo-NESCO suffered a 21-18 loss in the opening set, won the second by a 21-14 score then fell in the rally game, 15-8.

The Royals came back to sweep Meskwaki by scores of 21-18 and 21-17 and take out Clarksville in a three-set thriller. Colo-NESCO won a 24-22 battle in its opening set with Clarksville, lost a 23-21 squeaker in the second set then prevailed in an exciting rally game, 16-14.

For the tournament Rylee Purvis recorded 19 kills and seven digs and Megan Carlson had 38 assists and three aces. Megan Hulshizer finished with nine digs and five aces, McKenzie Niemeyer nine digs, eight kills and three aces and Emmy Hostetler 10 kills and a block.

Jenna Hill tacked on eight kills and three blocks, Ayvarie Bappe eight kills and Morgan Sluis two digs and an ace.

COLO - Colo-NESCO wasn’t able to find enough success defensively at the net or serving the ball in a non-conference loss to South Hardin Oct. 15.

The Royals were swept by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-17 in falling to 4-14 on the season. They went without a block or an ace the entire match and had 21 kills against 17 errors in 74 attacks.

Rylee Purvis and Ayvarie Bappe each had five kills and Jenna Hill and Gracie Kettwig four apiece for Colo-NESCO. Purvis also recorded eight digs and two assists, Bappe one dig and one assist and Hill two digs.

Megan Carlson finished with 18 assists and three digs, Megan Hulshizer 18 digs and one kill, McKenzie Niemeyer eight digs and Emmy Hostetler two kills. Morgan Sluis chipped in three digs for the Royals.
