NEVADA — The Nevada boys’ basketball team was unable to slow down an efficient North Polk offense in a 74-62 loss to the Comets Friday at the Nevada High School Field House.


Nevada did fine offensively, shooting 45 percent from the field and making 13 of 18 free throws. But North Polk managed to shoot a sizzling 66 percent from the field and make 7 of 15 3-pointers to keep a comfortable lead for most the game.


North Polk led 41-32 at the half. Nevada kept within nine after three quarters and put up 17 points in the fourth, but North Polk netted 20 points over the final eight minutes to pull away.


The loss put Nevada at 7-9 on the season and 4-6 in the Heart of Iowa Conference. Tyler Sansgaard had 18 points and three assists, Kody Kruschwitz 12 points and two steals and Devin See 11 points, six rebounds and three assists for the Cubs.


Ayden Rhodes added eight points, Jack Cahill six points and Brayden Bottorf five points and three rebounds for Nevada.


North Polk improved to 4-10 overall and 3-7 in the conference. Colten Parkins tallied 17 points and six rebounds, Sam Carstensen 13 points and five rebounds, Jevin Sullivan 12 points, Braden Hoksbergen 12 points and eight assists and Cam Markert 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Comets.
