NEVADA — The Nevada boys’ soccer team opened Class 1A substate competition with a 3-0 victory over Garner-Hayfield Monday at the SCORE Athletic Complex in Nevada.
Nevada improved to 10-7 after getting off an impressive 27 shots. The Cub defense was also stout, as keeper Gage Maiefski only needed to make three saves.
Ayden Rhodes, Taylor Maiefski and Andrew Saunders each scored one goal for Nevada. Devin See and Jose Buenrrostro each handed out an assist.
NEVADA — Nevada finished the regular season with a 4-2 home loss to Newton Friday at Cub Stadium.
Nevada was playing shorthanded, with some athletes participating at the state track meet. The Cubs received goals from Jose Buenrrostro and Anthony Ellis, and Devin See had an assist.
Gage Maiefski made eight saves at keeper for Nevada. Matthew Yeager scored three goals for Newton and Zach Combs added one.
BONDURANT — Nevada outclassed Bondurant-Farrar on both ends of the field, posting a 4-0 victory over the Bluejays May 14 at Bondurant.
Anthony Ellis netted two goals, Jose Buenrrostro tallied one goal and two assists and Taylor Maiefski found the net once for the Cubs. Devin See added an assist.
Nevada finished with 20 shots on the night. Cub keeper Gage Maiefski made eight saves.
