I’m writing to support Stephanie Spence and Kimberly Stephens, two candidates running in the Nevada School Board election on Nov. 5. Stephanie and Kim bring both useful experience and new perspectives to the table.
They both have been stalwart, active participants in the Nevada Parent-Teacher Association, working hard to enhance the experiences not only of their own children (both of them are mothers of three) but of every child in the district. They have also worked for the community and its well-being in a broader sense, engaging in a wide array of civic activities.
If elected, Stephanie and Kim would push to make Nevada schools more inclusive for diverse students, a growing need as our population changes. They would also create greater transparency by providing up-to-date web access to School Board proceedings and working to facilitate better communication between the Board, teachers, and parents. They’ve already proposed new signage for the streets around our schools that would make Nevada’s kids safer.
As moms who have been very active in the lives of their children’s schools, they know what is and is not being done, and are in an excellent position to see what would improve things.
For those reasons, I strongly urge your readers to vote for Stephanie Spence and Kimberly Stephens on November 5.
