To the editor:
I have worked with county supervisors for three-and-a-half decades as a county employee, administrator and volunteer.
In 2014, I was appointed to serve on the Story County Conservation board by the Story County Supervisors. Through that work I have found Rick Sanders to be the best county supervisor I’ve ever worked with! He is an outstanding analyst and tactician that successfully engages fiscal, human, and environmental resources for the public good in the short term and long term. This has resulted in savvy fiscal management of the county’s $40 million budget in ways that makes Story County the best place in the state to live, work and recreate. Rick is also a great county supervisor due to his strong skills in organizational development. His high level of professionalism, ethics and experience make him an effective leader and manager. As a leader, he has a strong and attainable vision for Story County through social, environmental, and economic improvement projects. As a member of the Conservation board, I’ve been especially impressed by his leadership in assessment and acquisition of sensitive natural areas, water quality projects, conservation education and county park improvements. He provides outstanding human-centered management of county resources through a deep and clear communication style, intentional planning processes, balanced budgeting, lowered levy rates, job growth and improved infrastructure across the county.
Rick Sanders as a county supervisor gets things done to improve life for all of us. I strongly urge you to vote for him as Story County board supervisor on Nov. 6.
