Nevada- Pearl Picht, 91, of Nevada, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada.

Pearl was born July 23, 1921, on the family farm near Fernald, Iowa, the daughter of John F. and Beulah M. (Hilburn) Picht. Pearl was a lifelong resident of Story County. Pearl graduated from Fernald High School and earned a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa. Pearl taught elementary education for 42 years and retired in June of 1984. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Memorial Lutheran Church, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Nevada Women’s Club, A.F.S., Ames Area Christian Women’s Club, Esther Church Circle, Prayer Coffee, Search Bible Study, Altrusa International, and National Education Association (N.E.A.).

Pearl is survived by her brother: John C. Picht of Northwood, Iowa; and her nieces and nephews: Mark (Barbara) Picht of Plymouth, Iowa, Ann (Darwin) Rohlfsen of Ankeny, Iowa, Echo (Benjamin) Guenther of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Shawn (Jeanne) Picht of Charles City, Iowa.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; her sister-in-law: Bonnie Picht; a great-nephew: Nathan Picht; and a great-great nephew: Gunner Harris.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
