Valerie Brendeland, 88 of Huxley, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2019 surrounded by family.
Valerie was born April 26, 1931 in Huxley, the daughter of Tilden and Mary Fjelland. She graduated from Huxley High School in 1949 and was united in marriage to Omar Brendeland on September 1, 1951 in Huxley. Valerie was a lifelong farmer’s wife and had a passion for sewing. She enjoyed baking and crafts. They were famous for the spur of the moment trips and visited 49 of the 50 states. She was a devoted servant at Palestine Lutheran Church. Valerie enjoyed family time especially with her 6 grandchildren – Lindsey & Rob Hays, Case & Tiffani Brendeland, Megan & Joe Russell, Jerelyn & Adam Carr, Lauren Brendeland & Brian Kerns, Timothy Brendeland and 7 great grandchildren – Reece, Riley & Regan Russell, Ava & Everly Hays, Elsie and Elijah Brendeland.
Valerie is survived by a son Merle and daughter Janis, sister-in-laws Lois Fjelland, Anita Brendeland, Leona Larson and Alvina Larson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar in 2017; a daughter, Marla in 2008; parents; brothers Avernol Fjelland, Ronald Fjelland.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Palestine Lutheran Church near Huxley. The visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24th. The funeral will be at 10:00 am Monday, November 25th. Burial will be at Palestine Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Palestine Church or Palestine Piecemakers (quilting group).
