This past year, the Colo-Nesco FFA chapter has seen increased involvement in both the number of members participating and also the number of events and activities attended. In this article we will look back at some of the activities and events that Colo-Nesco FFA members participated in.

In February, during National FFA week, the FFA chapter celebrated by serving ice cream to the student body, sponsoring an FFA T-shirt Day, an Official Dress day, a member BBQ and hosted a teacher appreciation breakfast. Sub-districts were at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, where we had a member participate in Job Interview for the Career Development Events.

In March, the North Central District FFA Convention was held at the Webster City High School. Morgan McEnany competed in the Job Interview Career Development Event. The Colo-Nesco FFA chapter had one member serve as a voting delegate.

The FFA chapter held our annual FFA banquet to recognize all the efforts of the chapter members over the past school year. Nine Greenhand Degrees were given out to first-year FFA members, and six Chapter Degrees were given out to second- year members. The chapter gave out a Star Greenhand Award and the Star Chapter Farmer Award. Fourteen members received the Chapter Scholastic Award. The chapter also recognized several members of the local communities for their support of the FFA Chapter.

In April, 20 members attended the State FFA leadership Conference in Ames. Two members served as voting delegates. The members who attended volunteered their time at Meals of the Heartland. Isaiah Texeira and Morgan McEnany received their Iowa Degrees. The chapter also hosted a Farm Safety day in April where they invited the younger students to the high school to learn about Farm Safety.

Over the summer months, FFA members continued their involvement. In July, chapter officers and members organized a tractor ride and show for the Colo Crossroads Festival. At the county fair we had several members exhibit their animals. Caitlan and Connor Clark showed rabbits, sheep and goats and Caleb Vaughn exhibited his goats. In August, Zach Jamison exhibited pigs at the Iowa State Fair and Caleb Vaughn exhibited goats. While at the State Fair, four members volunteered in the Little Hands on the Farm display for four hours each.

Eight members, along with Ms. Johnson, attended the National FFA Convention in late October. The National FFA Convention is held in Louisville, Ky. While at National Convention, members attended numerous tours, the Career Show, and sessions. Tours included Churchill Downs and Evan Williams Distillery.

The second week of December, Colo-Nesco FFA members delivered fruit, meat, and cheese from our annual fundraiser. The money that is raised helps pay for conferences, registration fees, FFA jackets, and other day-to-day supplies for the chapter.

In January, the chapter held its annual bowling party at Perfect Games in Ames.
