Amelea Jones (left) and Eliana Hornbuckle, Nevada High School juniors, participated in the World Food Prize Iowa Youth Institute held at ISU in Ames on April 29. The students logged many hours researching and writing research papers on critical issues in food security. Hornbuckle’s paper addressed the problems in India with the need for improving the preservation of produce and foods to avoid spoilage. Jones’ research paper addressed food insecurity in Greece.
