On Tuesday, Nov. 20, Nevada Parks and Recreation put on its 17th annual Thanksgiving meal, with a great amount of support from Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Rhonda Maier, assistant director of parks and rec, thanked the other members of the parks and rec staff for a great deal of help, and also thanked the other churches in Nevada for their donations and the other city staff members, from a variety of departments, who helped serve the meal. In its first year, 12 people were served at this event. This year, there were around 120 in attendance, along with 251 meals that were being sent out to the members of families that were identified by the local schools. The meal consisted of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, pies and other fixings that one expects for a traditional holiday meal.
