The Senior Variety Show board of directors has selected four recipients to be awarded a grant from this year’s show. Heartland Senior Services Meals-on-Wheels program, Ballard Community Performing Arts, the Ames Historical Society and the City of Ames Sun Smart project will all receive a portion of the proceeds from the 24th annual Senior Variety Show.
The Senior Variety Show was first launched to showcase older adult performers. It was an instant hit and continues to entertain audiences of all ages. One of the additional benefits of the show is the money that is raised through ticket sales. The show has raised approximately $200,000 for Story County non-profit organizations and projects during its 23-year history. This year’s show, “Simply Stellar!” will be held Aug. 17 and 18 at Ames City Auditorium, and will feature talented Story County seniors over the age of 60.
