ISU Extension and Outreach-Story County, Story County Conservation and Threshold Learning Center have teamed up to offer a family fun free afternoon of fishing at Dakins Lake, 70613 130th St., Zearing.
From 1-4 p.m., participants can learn fishing basics, including tying knots and casting, play miniature golf to learn about fish types found in Dakins Lake, participate in a pond study and even race minnows.
This is a free family event hosted during the Iowa DNR’s Free Family Fishing Weekend, where all family members are able to fish without a license. Fishing poles, tackle boxes and bait are provided. Families are welcome to picnic before the event. The campground is open for families that decide to extend their time at Dakins Lake.
