Kevin Cooper, Nevada High School agriculture education instructor and FFA advisor, was recently presented with the Steven L. Fales Conservation Award. The award is in recognition of land stewardship where Cooper has implemented cover crops to improve both soil and water quality on farmland. Cooper has also farmed his land with no tillage for ten years. The award is named posthumously after Steve Fales, who served as a Story Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioner for many years, and was passionate about environmental conservation.
