DMACC's 16th annual Celebration of the Literary Arts will be held April 2-4, with classroom visits to all six DMACC campuses by area writers and literary instructors.
Poet Dr. Michaela Mullin and poet Emma Murray will read from their works in the DMACC Boone Campus Auditorium from 9:40 to 11:05 a.m., Tuesday, April 3.
Mullin, who earned her B.A. in English from Drake University, her M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Nebraska and her Ph.D. in philosophy, art and critical thinking from the European Graduate School, is a Pushcart Prize-nominated poet. She is a recipient of the Hellen W. Kenefick Poetry Prize from the Academy of American Poets. Her full-length poetry collection, “must,” was published by Nomadic Press in 2016.
Mullin is currently the associate editor at Nomadic Press (Oakland & Brooklyn) and writes for Moberg Gallery in Des Moines.
Murray holds an M.F.A. in poetry from Oklahoma State University. She received an Academy of American Poets Prize in 2016. Murray, who lives in Des Moines, teaches English and serves as an editorial associate for Gold Wake Press. Her muses include Paul Westerberg, Gurlesque poetry and ice cream.
All Celebration of Literary Arts events are free and open to the public.
