Nevada Golden K Kiwanis

Nevada Golden K met on Oct. 9 at Memorial Lutheran Church. President Bob Collins called our meeting to order, leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Barb Cockshoot had the invocation, followed by songs led by Gwen Frese and accompanied by Bev Packard. Stan Carpenter from the Ames Town & Country Kiwanis brought information on selling nuts and candies. Nevada Golden K will be partnering with them for sales to be delivered before Thanksgiving.

Laura Van Allen was the program, telling us about their trip West and Northwest. She and her husband Dennis had their grandson Macen as a travelling partner for half of the trip. It included Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse in S.D., Yellowstone and then they went north to Missoula, Mont., to visit relatives. From there they went south to Salt Lake City and on to Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. From there they went south and east to Dallas to visit Dennis’s brother and family. They were gone almost three weeks and enjoyed traveling and great weather.

Joys and concerns were shared by the club. Ken Shaw invited us to the Presbyterian salad luncheon. Marlene Anderson won the 50/50 drawing and Gwen Frese closed with some humor. We are always welcoming to guest and visitors.
