A good crowd was on hand Monday for our potluck day and to help Roger celebrate his birthday. Everyone enjoyed his birthday treat of Pizza Ranch chicken. For our program we watched the DVD about the building of the replica of Noah’s Ark near Williamstown, Ky. It opened for visitors two years ago July 7, and a couple people have already been there.

Barb Mittman, who is the director of our Nevada Food at First, contacted me last week to tell me about their upcoming “Beef It Up” fundraiser. The event will be at the United Methodist church on Tuesday, July 17 from 5-6:30. This fundraising event was planned to help pay for a locally grown beef, which is used throughout the year for the free Monday and Thursday meals. To raise the needed money they are saving out the best steaks for a raffle. Raffle tickets can be purchased two for $10 or five for $20. There will also be a silent auction for ISU and Iowa Hawkeye prizes. (You do not need to be present to win.) Free light appetizers and dessert will be served at this event. I hope you will take the time to support this important fundraiser.

At the Center we will be having our summer waffle breakfast day on the 16th from 8 to 10. Hand and Foot cards will be on Wednesday the 18th at 1 p.m.
