Throwback Thursday

It’s FREE movie night (tonight, Feb. 25) at The Talent Factory in Nevada. Come see "E.T. The Extra-terrestrial" on the big screen and bring back memories of the early 1980s. Classic cartoons will be shown at 6:30, with the movie starting at 7 p.m.

Hungry for fish?

Or for barbecued pork? Both are being offered at the Nevada American Legion’s Friday, Feb. 26 Fish Fry at the Legion building on Sixth Street. Serving is from 5-7:30 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults; $4 for children. Funds raised help support veterans and many local programs, like Quilts of Valor, Girls State and Merit Awards.

Feeling artsy and crafty?

Attend the Des Moines Arts & Crafts Show this weekend, Feb. 26-28, at the Varied Industries Building on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. This is Iowa’s largest show, with over 300 talented exhibitors from eight states featured. The show is a production of Callahan Promotions, Inc. and offers patrons the chance to enjoy original, affordable arts and crafts. Admission to the show is only $6, with anyone 10 and under admitted free. All patrons will receive a three-day re-entry hand stamp good for the entire run of the show. Hours are Friday night from 5-9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking for the show is always free.

For the public’s convenience, a free shuttle bus service will be available on both Friday and Saturday and will shuttle the public from the northern parking lots to the front of the Varied Industries Building.
