The 1968 graduating class is invited to a DMACC 50th anniversary celebration.

Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year with a Gala Celebration to be held Saturday, April 30, at Prairie Meadows. DMACC’s first graduating class (1968) will be honored at this celebration.

The DMACC Foundation is specifically looking for the following graduates: James Brockley, Tom Trunnell, Jeanne Davis, Patti Greig, Carole Janes, Pat Harrison, Frank McLey, Marta May, Teri Carruthers, Mary Jo Mitchell, Paul Wicks and Neville Mangra and ask that members of this initial graduating class contact Foundation Associate Director Breck Danner at 515-965-7331 or bbdanner@dmacc.edu by April 5.

DMACC was officially created March 18, 1966, and was designed as Merged Area XI. In 1968, the board of directors adopted Des Moines Area Community College as the official name of the institution.

DMACC started at 2501 Vine St. in West Des Moines, which had been a grocery store. Today, it’s the Iowa Christian Academy.
