Timothy Ahlers, FACHE, has been named the new CEO of Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Ahlers earned his BBA, MBA and MHA from The University of Iowa and has spent the last several years in various leadership positions at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, the most recent being the vice president of marketing and business development.
Ahlers will bring valuable leadership experience in hospitals and clinics. Throughout his career, he has been successfully responsible for: medical staff alignment, development and recruitment, practice valuation, referral development, new business and program development, all marketing activities, financial analyses and auditing, new construction coordination and planning, and operational process improvements.
"This search was exhaustive. It included many applicants and the input of our board, UnityPoint Health – Des Moines leadership, as well as employees and medical staff," said Anderson, chairman of Story Medical’s board of trustees. "The overwhelming consensus is that Tim is a great fit for Story Medical, and his experience and skills will be vital to our growth and success. We look forward to continuing the great work being accomplished here."
Ahlers expects to start in early September. Tom Mulrooney will continue to serve as the interim CEO until that time and will work with Ahlers to transition. In accepting the offer, Ahlers said, "One of my first priorities is getting to know the Story Medical family and communities."
Tim enjoys golf, jogging, swimming, skiing and spending time with his family. He, his wife Kate and their three young children will be moving to Story County from Iowa City.
