Jake Webb and Tyler Erickson were the two Royals to take first in an even in the boys’ competition. Webb won the discus and Erickson took first in the 400-meter low hurdles.

In the discus Webb peaked with a throw of 126 feet, seven inches. That easily beat the runner-up throw of 112 feet even by CAL’s Ben Farhmann.

The 400 low hurdles saw Erickson prevail with a time of 59.5 seconds. That time was nearly a second faster than the runner-up time of GMG’s Devon Schuett.

Erickson also won a silver in the open 400 and anchored Colo-Nesco to a third-place finish in the shuttle hurdle relay.

In the 400 Erickson clocked in at :54.2 seconds. Erickson only lost to winner Nicholas Jeffers of Northeast Hamilton by one one-hundredth of a second and third-place finisher Johnny Davis of Dunkerton was right behind Erickson with a time of :54.5 in a very tightly-contested race.

Dean also anchored Colo-Nesco to a bronze medal in the sprint medley relay. Maggie Kaiser, Olivia Key and Caitlan Clark joined her to produce a time of 2:00.2 which was less than a tenth of a second behind Dunkerton for second and right at one-tenth of a second in back of Don Bosco’s winning time.

Dean delivered a sixth-place finish in the 800 as well. Her time was 2:36.5.

Sam Riese was second in both the shot put and discus and teammate Devin Francis took third in each event.
