AMES – The Nevada girls’ golf team easily ousted the rest of a five team field to claim the Gilbert Invitational Championship Monday at the Ames Golf and Country Club.

Nevada produced the medalist and medalist-runner up, tallying a nine-hole team score of 190. Ballard and Roland-Story ended up a distant second after each shooting a 210, South Hamilton scored a 241 and Gilbert finished with a 252.

Christine Ausman won medalist with a round of 44. Her younger sister Claire took runner-up with a 46.

Megan Pringnitz and Maddie Beauchene both shot a 50 to complete the scoring for Nevada.

Final team scores (nine holes): 1. Nevada 190, 2. (tie) Ballard 210, Roland-Story 210, 4. South Hamilton 241, 5. Gilbert 252.

AMES – Good balance helped Nevada win a triangular meet with Ames and Ankeny April 15 at the Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames.

Nevada shot a 215 over nine holes to beat Ames by 10 strokes for the team victory. Ankeny ended up with a 255.

Nevada was the only team with more than two golfers to shoot under 60 on the day as five Cub golfers shot a 57 or better.

Christine Ausman led the way with a 46 to earn medalist honors. Ames’ Abby Bergquist was medalist runner-up with a 49.

Megan Pringnitz shot a 55 to turn in the second-best Nevada score on the day. Claire Ausman, Maddie Beauchene and Alexis Houseman each finished with a 57 for the Cubs and Katie Heiden shot a 63.
