NEVADA – The Nevada golf teams both emerged victorious April 4 during a coed meet at the Indian Creek Country Club.

The Cub boys won a quadrangular with North Polk, West Marshall and Saydel. Nevada shot a 175 over nine holes to beat North Polk by 13 strokes, West Marshall by 20 and Saydel by 26 for the victory.

Zach Hansen had a big day individually for the Cubs as he carded a 39 to earn medalist honors. Chris Dobernecker and Cody Wiederien each shot a 45 and Cole Gidel had a 46 as the other scored Cub golfers.

North Polk’s Chris Flynn was medalist runner-up with a 42.

The Cub girls faced off against North Polk and West Marshall in a triangular. West Marshall only had three golfers and was thus ineligible for team scoring, leaving the final outcome between Nevada and North Polk.

The Cub girls ended up prevailing as they shot a 216 over nine holes to North Polk’s 227.

Christine Ausman joined Hansen as a Cub medalist on the day as she shot a 48 to beat North Polk’s Megan Petersen by one stroke for the top score in the girls’ competition. Haley Ellingson was close behind with a 50 and Maddie Beauchene and Megan Pringnitz each shot a 59 as the other scored Cub golfers.
