HUXLEY – The Nevada girls’ track team placed in seven events in Class A at the Bomber Relays Friday in Huxley.
The Cubs turned in one fourth-place performance. They also had two fifth-place and four sixth-place outings on the evening.
High jump was Nevada’s most successful event.
Alyssa Boyd cleared the bar at four feet, 10 inches to place fourth in Class A. Boyd came in behind the winning 5-0 jump by Carroll’s Morgan Cullen, as well as the Dallas Center-Grimes tandem of Olivia Weaver and Maci Masching, both of whom also peaked at 4-10.
The 3,000-meter run saw Nevada’s Emily Dittmer run a time of 12 minutes, 23.92 seconds to place fifth. Dittmer finished just behind the 12:22.96 by Carroll’s Megan Delp for fourth place and DCG’s Madison Waymire won the race in a meet-record time of 10:47.83.
Abby Tupper tacked on a sixth-place individual medal in the discus for the Cubs. Tupper’s best throw was 85 feet even.
Nevada finished sixth in three relay events.
In the shuttle hurdle Alli Fey, Tiffany Latshaw, Mary Storvick and Boyd teamed up to run a 1:21.09.
In the 4 X 200 Kelsey Haley, Kelli Neal, Megan Neal and Kayla Little ran a 2:02.60 and in the 4 X 100, Haley joined forces with Lindsey Haley, Little and Fey to run a :55.70. The Cub 4 X 100 just missed fifth place as Carlisle finished in :55.69.
The Cubs ended up seventh out of eight teams in the final Class A standings with 12 points. Des Moines North was the team Nevada defeated as the Polar Bears had 10 points.
DCG won the Class A team title with 132 points. The Fillies edged Carroll’s 128 points and Adel-Desoto-Minburn’s 124 for the title.
