JEFFERSON - The Nevada volleyball team scored its second lopsided Heart of Iowa Conference victory of the week Oct. 4 with a sweep over Greene County at Jefferson.


After pummeling Prairie City-Monroe two nights earlier, Nevada rolled to 25-18, 25-7 and 25-11 victories over Greene County. The victory put the Cubs at 5-1 in the HOIC and 18-14 overall.


Nevada had 36 kills and only nine errors for a .338 kill-efficiency rate against the Rams to follow up its spectacular .567 efficiency rate versus PCM. The Cubs also tallied 39 digs, 13 aces and 11 blocks against Greene County.


Kacie Rewerts had 16 kills, two blocks and one dig and Amanda Fortmann 19 assists, five digs and three aces to lead Nevada. Morgan Tupper finished with 12 assists, five digs, three kills and one ace and Sydney Mosinski seven kills and eight blocks.


Mikayla Long tacked on five kills, four digs and one ace and Kelby Rewerts four kills and one dig. Hannah Thomsen chipped in one kill, dig and block apiece.


Ellie Gray led Nevada in the back row with 10 digs and she also had four aces and two assists. Jaeden Heintz put up eight digs and one ace and Madison Stevens four digs and three aces.


NEVADA - Nevada made short work of Prairie City-Monroe, sweeping the Mustangs in convincing fashion Oct. 2 at the Nevada High School Field House.


The Cubs rolled to victories of 25-4, 25-10 and 25-6, improving to 17-14 overall and 4-1 in the Heart of Iowa Conference.


Nevada had an amazing .567 kill-efficiency rate with 43 kills and only five attack errors. The Cubs were also an outstanding 71 of 73 serving with 10 aces, and totaled 35 digs and seven blocks.


Kacie Rewerts had 16 kills, three blocks and two digs; Morgan Tupper 10 assists, seven kills, six digs, four aces and one block and Amanda Fortmann 25 assists, seven digs and two aces for Nevada. Sydney Mosinski finished with seven kills and one block; Mikayla Long six kills, two blocks, two aces and one dig and Ellie Gray seven digs, three assists and a perfect 29 of 29 serving effort.


Kelby Rewerts added five kills and one dig, Jaeden Heintz five digs, Hannah Thomsen two kills and two digs and Madison Stevens four digs and two assists.
