ADEL — The Nevada volleyball team was a machine at the Tiger Invitational in Adel Aug. 30, going a perfect 5-0 on the day with four sweeps.


Nevada (6-4) took down Adel-Desoto-Minburn in three sets and won in straight sets over Norwalk, Gilbert, Perry and Woodward-Granger. The dominant showing gives the Cubs a huge surge of momentum after going 1-4 against several larger schools in their opening tournament at Ankeny Centennial.


The Cubs defeated ADM by taking the first set, 21-14, then coming back from a 21-17 loss in the second to cruise in the rally game, 15-6. Nevada had a .167 kill-efficiency rate with 23 kills and 12 errors in 66 attacks, and also recorded 41 digs and nine blocks.


Kacie Rewerts stepped up with 14 kills, five digs and two blocks; Morgan Tupper delivered seven assists, four kills, four digs and one block; Amanda Fortmann came up with 15 digs and three kills and Ellie Gray tallied 13 digs. Madison Stevens went 20 of 20 serving with three aces and added eight digs; Kelby Rewerts had four kills and one dig; Sydney Mosinski put up four blocks and one kill; Jaeden Heintz six digs and one ace; Mikayla Long one block and one dig and Hannah Thomsen one block.


Nevada swept Norwalk by scores of 21-17 and 21-10. The Cubs only had five errors in 51 attacks with 18 kills for a .255 kill-efficiency rate in the victory.


Thomsen had five kills; Kacie Rewerts four kills and one dig; Tupper nine assists, three kills, three digs and two aces; Kelby Rewerts three kills and one dig and Mosinski two kills against the Warriors. Gray chipped in 11 digs; Fortmann seven assists, three digs and one ace; Heintz five digs and one ace; Stevens seven digs and Long one kill and one ace.


The Cubs scored 21-17 and 21-16 victories over Gilbert. They delivered a .222 kill-efficiency rate with 22 kills and eight errors in 63 attacks and also came away with four blocks and two aces.


Kacie Rewerts and Morgan Tupper both produced four kills and Kelby Rewerts, Thomsen and Long three apiece in the win over Gilbert. Tupper also had 10 assists, seven digs and one ace; Thomsen two blocks and one dig and Long one block.


Fortmann tacked on nine assists, three kills and one dig; Gray seven digs and three assists and Stevens and Heintz five digs apiece.


Nevada whipped Perry, 21-7 and 21-12. The Cubs put up 23 kills and only four errors in 45 attacks for an outstanding .422 kill-efficiency rate versus the Bluejays.


Kacie Rewerts had a big match against Perry with 11 kills, one block and one dig. Thomsen tacked on four kills, Mosinski three, Fortmann nine assists and Gray, Heintz and Stevens three digs apiece. Gray also had three assists and one ace, Heintz one kill and Stevens three digs and two aces.


Tupper chipped in six assists and one kill, dig and ace apiece and Long and Ashlyn Sporrer one kill apiece versus Perry.


The Cubs outlasted Woodward-Granger, 21-16 and 21-18. Nevada finished with a .283 kill-efficiency rate with 23 kills and eight errors in 53 attacks and they also finished with seven blocks and three aces.


Kacie Rewerts and Tupper led the charger versus the Hawks. Rewerts finished with nine kills, two blocks and one dig and Tupper eight assists, seven kills, four digs and one ace.


Long had two kills, two aces and one block; Thomsen two kills and blocks apiece; Fortmann 12 assists and two digs; Heintz seven digs and one assist and Gray six digs and one assist. Kelby Rewerts added three digs and one block; Mosinski three kills and one block and Stevens one dig.
