COLFAX - Colo-NESCO was unable to get enough production at the plate in a 9-2 loss to Colfax-Mingo July 5 at Colfax.
The Royals drew and impressive eight walks during the game. But they only had one hit, falling to 11-10.
Both Colo-NESCO runs came in the top of the fifth. Colfax-Mingo had built an 8-0 lead going into the inning.
Matthew Hill singled, stole a base and drove in a run, Kelly Gray walked twice, stole a base and scored and Jack McKinney crossed the plate once for the Royals. Mason Lytle walked once and stole two bases, Sean Cutler and Garrett Packer each picked up two free passes and Ryan Banks drew one walk.
Bryce Niemeyer was the losing pitcher. Niemeyer allowed eight runs — just four earned — on eight hits and seven walks with one strikeout in 4 ⅔ innings.
Cutler gave up one unearned run on one hit and walk apiece in 1 ⅓ innings for Colo-NESCO.
Jarod Nichols picked up the win for Colfax-Mingo. Nichols didn’t give up a hit, but surrendered two runs on six walks with eight strikeouts in four innings.
Trinity Schroeder was 3-for-3 with three runs and Zarek Hill 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI for the Tigerhawks at the plate.
